LOVE IN ACTION

our 2021 Holiday Impact of LOVE

Each month, the Furnishing Families team selects a theme for our social media and email content. January brought JOY and this month is LOVE!

What better way to talk about Love than to take a look at outreaches during the holiday season? During this time, many families need extra help, extra love, and we were there to bring it on!

A special thanks to our partners who helped catalyze this Love into ACTION!

Let's take a look back at four ways that your generous partnership with Furnishing Families met immediate physical needs of families in North Texas...

The Thanksgiving Festival

We partnered with Pastor Edward Collins (pictured below with Annabelle) and Pleasant Home Baptist Church in Fort Worth. Together we distributed pantry food items and frozen turkeys in a drive thru format. We set up tents, where many families came for face painting, hot food, hair braiding, clothing giveaways, and prayer! Check out the video recap above. It was a blast!

Christmas gifts for our families

The whole team came together to give over 50 children CHRISTMAS! Our friend Donna Biss and I used our homes as hubs. We gathered toys, board games, nearly seventy rubber boots that were DONATED TO US from Roma Boots of Dallas, TX, baby dolls, radio cars, sticker books, coats, art supplies, over $2k worth of clothes, and more. We covered $2k toward the expenses, while Donna spent HER OWN $4K TO COVER THE REST! WOW. Employees and volunteers came together in the wrapping and deliveries. Special thanks to Donna and her family for also helping Terri and me oversee the whole process. They picked up many of the toys from retail stores as well as from our friends at the Goodness Project. We could not have done this without them.

TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK!

The Nursing Home outreach

Furnishing Families of Texas gave 85 residents at DFW Nursing and Rehab each a 4 ft x 6ft soft throw blanket in a variety of 6 colors. We also decorated each bedroom’s door with Christmas theme and hung 85 stockings, one for each resident! We donated 6 Christmas trees with tons of lights and decor, as well! This also became a moment to minister and to share hope-

A New partnership and a drive thru giveaway!

Furnishing Families has made a new strategic partnership with our friends Helen and Robert Epps (pictured above) of Morning Star Prayer Center. Their organization is described on their website as a “Fort Worth-based Christian non-profit organization offering weekly prayer, restoration and resources to ministers, families and communities battling food insecurity, financial hardship, crisis recovery and spiritual fatigue.” For their event called Hope On The Horizon Holiday, co-sponsored by World Vision, we sent our 26 ft truck, 3 movers, and 5 volunteers to help with distribution of food, physical goods, furniture, bedding, toys and more at an amazing drive thru format give-away! Their delivery team filled our truck at their warehouse, and our team helped unload and disperse at the event. In addition, the Furnishing Families movers helped unload THREE tractor trailers of the Center’s goods, as well! Special thanks to Elder Helen Epps for coordinating our role in this event, and we look forward to working more together in the future!

Thank You So Much for helping this work.

The holidays can be a difficult time for many families due to limited resources or a sense of loneliness. We believe that, together, we have multiplied in the giving of love to meet both these needs and desires!
