Tarrant County Judge Awards Funds To Furnishing Families of Texas
Funds raised through the Tarrant Special Events Foundation will help provide essential furnishings for families in need.
FORT WORTH, TEXAS — October 21, 2026 — The Office of Tarrant County Judge Tim O’Hare has awarded $2,000 to Furnishing Families of Texas through the Tarrant Special Events Foundation to support the nonprofit’s home transformation program for at-risk families in Tarrant County and surrounding areas of North Texas.
On October 19th, Judge O’Hare toured Furnishing Families’ headquarters and presented the funds to Annabelle Wallnau, Founder and President of Furnishing Families of Texas, along with members of the organization’s staff.
“We are incredibly grateful to Judge Tim O’Hare and his office for investing in our work to support and strengthen families in our community,” said Annabelle Wallnau, Founder and President of Furnishing Families of Texas. “When each family member has a bed to sleep in, a table to share a meal, and a safe and welcoming place to call home, it can provide a foundation for healing, stability and hope. Our survey data from those served one year ago or more reinforces the long lasting impact that simple upgrades to fixtures like a dining set and beds can have on a family’s well being and security. It impacts children's performance at school, parents’ work and home-life, and beyond. It’s the gift that keeps on giving!”
The Tarrant Special Events Foundation funds derive from proceeds generated by community events hosted through the County Judge’s office, including the Empowering Seniors Expo and the Tarrant County National Day of Prayer Luncheon. [Funds do not derive from tax revenue]. The Judge plans to distribute more checks to local Tarrant non-profits in the near future.
The $2,000 award will help Furnishing Families of Texas’ outreach that supports families experiencing economic hardship, usually single-parent-led households and those rebuilding a life after homelessness, domestic violence, and other significant challenges. The Home Delivery Program has served over 1,150 families since 2017, providing beds, bedding, furniture, kitchenware, and essential household items to at-risk families throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth region. Furnishing Families regularly receives referrals from Continuums of Care, nonprofit resource centers, case managers, and other community partners.
Furnishing Families relies on the generosity of Tarrant County neighbors and organizations. Furniture and household goods are sourced through local donations, estate-sale partnerships, hotel renovation projects, secondhand purchases, and strategic acquisitions needed to complete individual homes. The organization collects, stores, prepares, and delivers these resources directly to families, reinforcing home stability and the ability to move forward.
